Fire Weather Warning, Fire Weather Watch
Statement as of 3:10 am EST on January 8, 2009
... Red flag warning in effect from 11 am this morning to 5 PM EST
this afternoon for northeast Florida due to long durations of low
rh and strong winds...
... Fire Weather Watch now in effect from Friday morning through
Friday afternoon for inland northeast Florida due to long
durations of low rh...
Breezy west winds will be near 20 mph with higher gusts today. Rh
values will fall below 35 percent for 4 to 6 hours. Minimum values
will be 25 to 30 percent.
On Friday very dry air will persist over the area which will cause
relative humidities to fall below critical values for extended
durations.
A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now... or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds... low relative humidity... and warm temperatures will
create explosive fire growth potential.
A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions
are forecast to occur. Listen for later forecasts and possible
red flag warnings.
