Discussion...
431 am MST Thursday Jan 8 2009

Northwest flow over the area at present time and will become zonal
tonight ahead of an open upper trough and cold front that will
move through the area Friday morning through Friday night.
Northwest flow resumes behind this system through the weekend.

Temperatures today generally 60 to 65 with a general west wind of
10 to 15 miles per hour and mostly sunny Sky. High temperatures Friday in the
low 40s across far eastern Colorado to the low 50s in the Hill
City area by 18z...steady or very slowly falling through the rest
of the day. North winds of 25 to 30 miles per hour with gusts around 45 miles per hour
still expected and wind advisories may be needed. Will continue to
advertise the winds in the severe weather potential statement product. Slightly warmer air
returns to the area across the west on the backside of the upper
trough allowing temperatures to remain in the middle 40s. Across the
east 850 temperatures cool a few degrees as they remain closest to the
cooler airmass. Should see some low and possibly middle 40s
there...still above normal for this time of year. For Sunday
pretty good agreement supporting current forecast highs of upper
40s to low 50s.

Still not real confident in chances of precipitation late Friday as
models continue have different solutions as to how much low and
middle level moisture will be present. Will keep silent probability of precipitation going.
Otherwise...still looks dry through much of the weekend.

Monday-Wednesday...no changes made.
